Hoeting finishes 24th at 1A State XC Meet
Stockton High School senior Cheyenne Hoeting capped off her high school cross country career with a strong showing at the KSHSAA Class 1A State Cross Country Championships held Saturday in Wamego.
Hoeting placed 24th out of 94 runners in the girls’ 5K race, clocking a time of 22:01.32—just shy of medaling for the second consecutive year. The top 20 finishers earned medals, leaving Hoeting only four places short of repeating last year’s podium appearance.
Her time marked a slight improvement from her 2024 state performance, when she finished in 22:09.93 to earn a 15thplace medal. The state championship title this year again went to Avery Boydston of Ellis, who crossed the finish line in 18:53.45.
Despite falling just short of a second state medal, Hoeting’s consistent performances throughout the season can give her the satisfaction of closing out her senior XC year with determination and pride.
Congratulations, Cheyenne! You make us proud!
