Beginning June 1st, the Sentinel office will only be open to the public Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
However, because we will be in the office Monday through Friday, you may call us anytime at 785-425-6354.

Summer Library Program with Stockton Public Library

Please call 785-425-6372 to reserve your child or children’s summer library bag containing four weeks of activities and handouts. This will be a curbside pickup, so call when you arrive at the library after you have made prior arrangements for the bags, and the staff will bring the bag(s) out to you. This year’s program is “Imagine Your Story.”

Stockton Public Library now offering curbside services

The Stockton Public Library is now offering curbside services only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Please place your holds online or call 785-425-6372. The Library staff will inform you when the items are ready to be picked up. Then call them from your car when you arrive and they will bring the items out to you! Services offered are books, audio books, magazines, DVDs, copies, faxes and $1.00 coffee.

Household Disaster Distribution Friday, June 5th

A Household Disaster Distribution will be held in Stockton and Plainville on Friday, June 5th. The emergency commodities may be picked up at the VFW in Stockton from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 204 North Irving in Plainville from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In Plainville, patrons are asked to drive in from the east, as the commodities will be distributed from the south door. Once your name is taken, the commodities will be placed on the table outside.

SHS and Woodston Alumni reunions cancelled for this year

The Stockton High School Alumni banquet and reunion that was scheduled for Sunday, May 24th has been cancelled for this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And along with the cancellation of the reunion, the Stockton VFW Post #8873 has cancelled all Memorial Day services for Monday, May 25th.

Rooks County Sheriff’s Dept. to help deliver supplies

The Rooks County Sheriff’s Department will help deliver groceries or medical supplies as needed to those citizens who live outside the city limits of Palco, Plainville and Stockton (these cities already have delivery systems in place). And please note, since Palco doesn’t have a local pharmacy, the department will be happy to transport medical supplies to the Palco residents.
