Body Haven Hamilton of Stockton was named to the Cloud County Community College Spring 2020 President's List. To be named to the president's list, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours of college coursework and must have earned a semester grade point average of 3.9-4.0.

Body DEB CARSTEN AND LEE LINDSEY were honored on June 19 for their many years of service to USD 271. Carsten was an administrative assistant at SGS for 16 years, while Lindsey taught and coached during his 28 years at SHS. Congratulations to the two of you...you will be missed!

Body It was “Christmas in July” (almost) at Sunday service as we started Chapter 22 of The Story, beginning with the book of Luke. We jumped from the Old Testament, and the 400 year gap inbetween that and the New Testament, to talk about the birth of Jesus.

Body A memorial service was held Saturday morning, June 20, at the Ash Rock Cemetery, for Warren (Dale) Jones, age 74, who passed away April 4, 2020.

Body The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met June 22, 2020, at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stockton. Ruth Ann Bigge opened the meeting and Gail Gallaway read the minutes from the May meeting and the treasurer’s report and they were approved as read. We had four members attend.

Body There will be a regular USD 271 Board of Education meeting on Monday, July 6th, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the District Office.

Body MARK TRUMBO saw an unusual sighting at Webster Lake recently when, what looked to be a very large channel cat, turned out to be a large channel cat with another large channel cat’s head in its mouth. Mark said the heads on the fish were about the size of a basketball.

Body The menus for the week beginning Monday, July 6, are as follows: Monday— Smothered steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread, pineapple. Tuesday—Chicken filet sandwich, three-bean salad, cantaloupe, bun, pudding.
