Kansas Governor Laura Kelly regrettably rejected assistance for Kansas small businesses with her veto Tuesday, June 2, of Senate Substitute for House Bill 2619, an economic recovery proposal designed to provide low-cost loans to small Kansas businesses, including farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses. The measure, which was formally vetoed by Governor Kelly on Monday, June 1st, received very strong bi-partisan support from state lawmakers eager to provide financial assistance to small businesses, which have been either forced to shut their doors or have suffered from market disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
