Department answers two fire calls on 4th of July

The Stockton Fire Department received its first call of the day on Sunday, July 4th during the early afternoon for a ditch that was on fire. The location was a quarter mile north of 13 and Pine. It is suspected that fireworks had started the blaze.

The best, thankful news in my family came this past week when my great niece, Nicci Cooper of West Des Moines, Iowa, delivered healthy twins on June 29. Adelaide Rose Cooper weighed over six pounds and her brother Elisa William Cooper, weighed seven pounds fourteen ounces.

Hobart Homemakers FCE

The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met Monday, June 28, 2021 at 7pm at the United Methodist Church in Stockton. Janie opened with the flag salute. Roll call was, "Do you know anyone with diabetes?" It was answered by six members. The minutes and treasurer’s report were read and approved.

First Load of Wheat!

The first load of wheat taken in at the Farmers Union Elevator in Stockton to kick off this year’s area harvest was by Marvin Jackson on Wednesday, June 23rd. The moisture content was 14 and the test weight was 60.5.

KDOT announces approved June bids

The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place June 16, 2021, in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.
