Lucy Vontrice Kennedy, born on October 13, 1926, in Garfield, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 at Homestead Assisted Living of Russell, Kansas, on July 4, 2025. She was the beloved middle daughter of John Seaburn and Sarah Elizabeth (O'Neil) Clark. Proud of her Cherokee heritage, Lucy was known for her distinctive black hair and her deep connection to her Native American roots.
John “Jack” William Couse, 82, passed away at his home in Plainville on June 21, 2025.
He was born on December 2, 1942, to Arthur and Eleanor (Carr) Couse in Syracuse, New York. On August 22, 1964, Jack married Barbara Hollar at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Together, they shared a full and joyful life, raising 14 children.
Terence (Terry) Joseph Henke, 72, passed away June 13, 2025, at his home in Plainville.
He was born March 31, 1953, to Joseph and Marie (Reinert) Henke in Concordia, Kansas. Terry graduated from Osborne High School in 1971, then went on to Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, graduating with a degree in Diesel Mechanics.
Dee Ann "DeeAnn" (Bouchey) Desair, 77, of Hays, passed away on June 20, 2025, at Via Christi Village in Hays.
She was born on July 11, 1947, to Raymond "Buck" and Mary Alberta (McKisson) Bouchey in Hays. DeeAnn grew up in Palco, Kansas, and graduated from Palco High School. She married Claude Desair on January 26, 1963, and together they raised four daughters: Kelly, Dana, Megan and Erin.
Leon Breckenridge, 93, Spokane, Wash., passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
He was born to Harold and Esther (Atchison) Breckenridge on September 10, 1931, in Beloit, Kansas. He married Virginia Boulanger on November 23, 1952, at the United Brethren Church in Woodston, Kansas. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage and lived in seven different states.

He was born on February 18, 1935, in Webster, Kansas, to Ray and Lula (Folsom) Dunning. He graduated from Webster High School in the Class of 1953. On November 6, 1954, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Jean Hunter, in Stockton, Kansas. Together, they raised two children, Steve and Vicki, and built a life centered around faith, family, and community.
