Recent reports have raised concerns about the financial outlook for rural hospitals in Kansas, with several critical access hospitals identified as being at high risk of closure. Rooks County Health Center (RCH) assures our community that, despite these challenges, we remain in a robust financial position.

For the first time since 2021 and 2022, Rooks County experienced a notable decline in court case filings, dropping by 99 cases compared to the previous year. In the two previous years to 2025 (2023 and 2024), the number of court cases filed increased by 84 in 2023 and 227 in 2024.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has reopened U.S. 281 in Osborne County between Portis and the north U.S. 24 junction. The 3.5-mile section has been closed since March 2025 for reconstruction.
