2025 sales tax figures for Stockton City Pool

The one-cent sales tax for the construction of a new Stockton City Pool went into effect on January 1st, 2017, with the new pool opening that summer on Tuesday, July 25th. The sales tax is in effect for 20 years, until the bonds are paid off, and will sunset at that time.

Plainville USD 270 School Board holds first meeting of the year

After the flag salute to start the Plainville USD #270 Board of Education meeting held on Monday, January 12th, during the Open Forum, Bart Hamilton and Susan Hamilton Schneider gave a short statement regarding the acquisition of the Plainville Times. They stated they are committed to working with the District to cover school events and that, by working together with the Board, staff, coaches, and sponsors, this can be accomplished in the new Sentinel-Times newspaper.
SITTING IN on their first Plainville USD #270 Board of Education meeting on January 12th were newly-elected members Christine Numrich and Jared Ganoung.

Stockton USD 271 hires new grade school principal

After the USD #271 Board of Education members held an executive session at the end of their regular meeting on Monday, January 12th, they returned to the open meeting and announced the hiring of new 2026-2027 elementary school principal, David Warner. They also accepted the retirement of Beth Hazen dated August 1st, 2026, the resignation of Bobbi Basart as the head high school cheer coach as of January 13th, 2026, the resignation of teacher Kenneth McNatt at the end of the school year, the hiring of Gary Huntley as custodian effective immediately, Dr. Anthony Cole as the junior high Scholars Bowl coach, and Julie Glendening as the new high school cheer coach to finish out the 2026 school year.
THE STOCKTON USD #271 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS who were elected during the November General Election to serve on the board are new member Amanda Atkisson and incumbents Spencer HIlbrink, Chad Sterling, and Andy Muir.
