Noxious weed director Mike Klein was at the weekly meeting of the Rooks County Commission on Tuesday, August 29th, to present them with information about a stand-on sprayer for the department. He located one in Kearney for the price of $10,799.00. Since this had been discussed this purchase at a prior meeting, the commissioners approved it as presented. Klein also presented the commissioners with pickup prices. The commissioners asked for more information before making any decision.

The Stockton Fire Department was called out on Tuesday, August 29th at 5:05 p.m. to 11 Road, approximately three miles north of Highway 24, for a baler owned by Joey Bellerive that had caught on fire.

A Stockton woman was sentenced in Rooks County District Court on Friday, August 18, to four years in prison after a plea agreement was reached. The criminal cases involve the woman who, without authority, entered three different residences with Stockton addresses.
