Rooks County athletes to resume sports action

With Winter Break and the KSHSAA Winter Moratorium now in the rearview mirror, Rooks County athletes are back in action as they prepare for the second half of the basketball and wrestling seasons. Basketball The Stockton Tiger boys return to the court on Tuesday, January 6, traveling to Mankato to take on the Rock Hills Grizzlies.

Lady Tigers finish third at Alan Dolezal Invitational

The Stockton Lady Tigers turned in a strong performance at the 2025 Alan Dolezal Invitational wrestling tournament held last Saturday in Russell, finishing third in the team standings. Leading the way for Stockton were Carolina Northup and Saj Snyder, who each claimed firstplace finishes in their respective weight classes.

SHS Tiger boys drop two games last week

The Stockton Tigers are still searching for their first win of the season after suffering a pair of losses last week. Stockton fell 63-55 at home to Tescott on Tuesday before traveling to Downs on Friday, where the Tigers were defeated 70-59 by the Lakeside Knights.

Tigers face tough competition in Pre-Season Tournament

Last week, the Stockton Tigers participated in the Pre-Season Basketball Tournament, hosted by Rock Hills in Mankato. The Tigers came up short in both of their games, with Saturday's scheduled matchup against Rock Hills canceled due to inclement weather.

Another second-place finish for SHS’s Carolina Northup

For the second week in a row, Stockton senior Carolina Northup (100) finished in second place, the most recent coming in the Christmas Clash wrestling tournament held last Friday and Saturday in Great Bend. Both of Northup’s losses this season have come at the hands of St. Francis’ Henzley Matthies. At WaKeeney, Northup lost by a major decision, however, at Great Bend, it was much closer, falling 4-0. Right now Northup owns a record of 6-2 on the season.

Bechard selected for KSHSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Former Stockton teacher/coach, Richard Bechard is among five individuals who have been selected for induction into the Kansas State High School Activities Association Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Awards will be presented during the 2026 season in conjunction with a KSHSAA-sponsored state function/championship, or locally at the inductee's request.

SJH Boys capture two wins last week

The Stockton Junior High Boys are coming off a week which saw them get two big wins. On Monday the Tigers were in Smith Center, where they picked up a 27-24 victory, and on Thursday they dominated the Tipton boys 35-16.
