The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred early Sunday morning if Plainville. The KBI was asked to assist at approximately 1:20 a.m.on Sunday, June 27.

 A lucky couple in Rooks County came to the Kansas Lottery offices in Topeka to claim a $150,000 top prize won on the $20 Extreme Crossword game! The winners chose to remain anonymous. “We play fairly often, but we’ve never won anything like this before,” the winners said.

Power lines cause freak accident

Madison and Sierra Reed, and David Reed were heading home to Stockton from the Thomas County Speedway races on Saturday evening, June 19th, since they had been called off due to severe weather in the area. Madison was driving the pickup and enclosed trailer for his IMCA Sport Compact.
THIS PHOTO shows how the power lines skimmed the top of the truck cab before slicing into the enclosed trailer carrying Madison’s racecar. The accident occurred on Saturday evening, June 19th during a severe thunderstorm with winds clocked at 80 mph.

Stockton man killed in two-vehicle accident

The communities of Stockton and Plainville and the surrounding area are saddened to learn of a twovehicle crash which occurred at approximately 7:29 a.m. last Wednesday morning, June 16th, that claimed the life of a Stockton man and sent another to the hospital with suspected minor injury.

City approves SVM rate increase

At the regular meeting of the Stockton City Commission held on Tuesday, June 15th, the commissioners signed the yearly updated law enforcement contract with Rooks County, noting a 3% cost of living increase as the only change.
