Final numbers for 2022 area wheat harvest

This year’s area wheat harvest is 85% of last year’s crop and is 85% of a fiveyear average. The Stockton Farmers Union Elevator took in a little over 337,000 bushels with Woodston Coop bringing in a total of 361,000 bushels for this year’s crop. The hailstorms the area received played a big part in this year’s harvest.

K-383 resurfacing to start in Decatur County

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work on a resurfacing project on a portion of K-383 in Decatur County starting the week of July 25. Project work will involve a mill and overlay on 15 miles of the highway starting at the U.S.

High Risk of West Nile Virus Activity in Four Kansas Regions

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a high-risk warning for West Nile virus infections (WNV) for north central, south central, northeast and south east Kansas. Northwest and southwest Kansas are at moderate risk for WNV infections.

County talks delinquent tax sale

Rooks County Commissioners Tim Berland and John Ruder met with treasurer Kim Northup about a delinquent county tax sale. Northup stated that Klenda Austerman LLC oversees this type of sale. The company can meet with the commissioners in the next few weeks to explain their services and see if the commissioners are interested in hiring them.

City to officially close office at 3:00 p.m. on Fridays starting Aug. 1st

During the regular meeting of the Stockton City Commission held on Tuesday, July 19th, the members voted to allow the City Office and departments to officially close at 3:00 p.m. on Fridays starting August 1st. This is to help regulate overtime and allow the employees to utilize the comp time they accumulate throughout the year.

The creators behind this mother and daughter fashion brand, COCO The Label, are Daneen and Payton Keller. This chic boutique on Stockton’s Main Street came about since Daneen grew up in and around her aunt’s boutique, and Payton has always dreamed of owning her own boutique because of her love of fashion.

Not only do Payton and her mother, Daneen, have a storefront in Stockton and a busy online business, they also travel to area towns to sell their merchandise at local vendor fairs.
