Ezra Scott (4), who has Chronic granulomatous, received his bone marrow transplant from his younger brother, Charlie (2 1/2), during the middle of August at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. At the special school board meeting held on Wednesday, August 10th, the Stockton board members voted to hire Keri Kephart to fill the Grade School Title 1 position. They also held a discussion on the guidelines to purchase beef/pork from the Rooks County Free Fair with no decisions made.

By Virgi Laska Stockton Sentinel Ronda Morgan with the Appraiser’s office was at the August 9th regular weekly meeting of the Rooks County Commission to talk to the commissioners about the GIS data/mapping maintenance. It was decided by the commissioners to allow for the maintenance with $2,200.00 to come out of the GIS fund.

With the 2022 Rooks County Free Fair just coming to a close, the work for next year’s event has already started with the exciting announcement that the 2023 Fair will have a carnival! The fair board has a verbal agreement with Pride of Texas Shows Carnival for rides, concessions and games to be on the fairgrounds from Wednesday through Saturday (August 9th through August 12th) with fair board president Dean Hrabe stating, “The contract is on its way.” The last carnival at the Rooks County Free Fair was in 2019 before the COVID Pandemic in 2020. Since that time, and because of the Pandemic, it has been very hard to procure a carnival since 60% of them were eliminated during that time.

This year’s sixth- and seventh-grade English and sixth-grade Science teacher is Dana Horton. Horton grew up in Palco, Kansas and graduated from Palco High School in 1988.
