The Fall Baking Contest, sponsored by Hobart Homemakers FCE Club and held at the Stockton Pumpkin Patch, had some delicious food entries. Their judge, Carol Serefko, did a great job at tasting and selecting the winners.

Anna Fuller, Plainville: “Sometimes I just wish I had the wisdom of a 90 year old, the body of a 20 year old, and the energy of a three year old!” Rooks County Election Officer Laurie Montgomery: “As of last Friday, our office has received 95 of the 145 ballots which were mailed out and had 241 people vote in office, for a total of 336 early voters, with a week to go. Four years ago, we had 673 early voters.”.

The Stockton Pumpkin Patch weekend was great weather and provided lots of fun for young and old. Each year, new things are added, and the little train travels many miles. A huge thank you should be extended to the organizers, workers, and all who participated.

Congratulations to the Stockton FFA Greenhand Team in placing first out of 26 schools at the October 14th Greenhand Information Test held in Downs. Vincent Thayer placed first out of 194 participants, with Meredith Gasper placing second.

We live in a world of instant gratification. With today's technology, it is easy to watch the program you want on television instantly or order something you need through the Internet and receive it within days, no matter where you are located. Waiting isn't something we have to do a lot of.

Dale Anderson: “Stockton really, really ‘needs’ a nice clean self-service, coin-operated laundry mat. So many seniors and disabled people need a place close to home to be able to clean their clothing, winter coats, bedding, etc. Plainville and Hays are too far away and it’s expensive driving that far or taking a bus, let alone time consuming! Any suggestions? Maybe a grant or something? Any attention in this matter is most appreciated!”
