Barb McLaughlin: “James William Dougherty, who was featured in the March 25 Names on the Wall article, was my great-grandfather.” Jack Turnbull (Referring to the picture in the April 1st edition asking if anyone remembers where the kids played marbles back in the day): “That picture brought back a lot of fun memories for me! Bart and Donna Hamilton

Body
Bart and Donna Hamilton and daughter, Haven and Tatum, and Tatum’s friend, David McFarland returned home March 28th after spending a week vacationing in Texas. Their first stop was in Yukon, Okla., where they were overnight guests in the home of Bart’s brother, Bobby and Sidonie Hamilton. The next morning they made the long trek to Port Aransas, Texas, stopping in Sanger, Texas to enjoy lunch at Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. While in Port Aransas, they enjoyed staying in a condo on Mustang Island overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. While there, they enjoyed the beach, shopping, relaxing, eating, renting golf carts, a ferry boat ride, and the sights in and around Port Aransas. One day was spent touring the magnificent USS Lexington at Corpus Christi. Dubbed the “Blue Ghost” by Japanese servicemen who believed they had sunk the aircraft carrier no fewer than four times during World War II, the USS Lexington now rests—entirely intact—as a museum in Corpus Christi, Texas. The ship is as tall as a 19-story building and as long as three football fields. It sailed enough miles to circle the globe eight times and was the first carrier to deploy air-to-surface missiles. One day, a few in the party enjoyed some fishing. On the group’s return trip home, they made a stop in San Antonio, Texas where they enjoyed shopping and a boat ride along the Riverwalk, and eating at Dick’s Last Resort. Their last stop was in Waco, Texas where they got to see the magnificent Magnolia Market and found a few things to bring home. They travelled over 2,000 miles and had a wonderful trip.

First Christian Church of Plainville

Body
It was a beautiful Easter morning as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. If it were not for this one event, our journey here on this earth would have little to no meaning. Jesus Christ dying on the cross for forgiveness of our sins and then rising from death to life gives us hope. It gives us a reason to live.
