The menus for the week beginning Monday, November 15, are as follows: Monday—Chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, bread, pears. Tuesday—Roast turkey in gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, roll, cranberry fluff. Wednesday—Ham and beans, spinach salad, cornbread, rosy applesauce. Thursday—Baked spaghetti, California blend vegetables, bread, pineapple upside down cake. Friday—Baked fish, macaroni and cheese, peas, bread, tropical fruit.

Jon Voss retires from City of Stockton

JON VOSS recently retired from the City of Stockton after having worked with the water and sewer department since he was hired in May, 2008. In August of 2011, Voss was promoted to Superintendent of that department. At a dinner recently held in his honor, Jon’s wife, Diane, helped display the cake made for the occasion.

Area Fall harvest update

As of Tuesday, November 9th, the Stockton Farmers Union Elevator has taken in a total of 158,000 bushels of corn and a total of 400,000 bushels of milo. Woodston Coop has taken in 186,000 bushels of corn and 110,000 bushels of milo. The soybeans from both facilities brought in a total of 189,000 bushels. This is approximately 20% more than last year’s crop. At this time, the corn total is over half of last year’s crop with the milo showing 65% of last year’s crop total.

The season openers for pheasant and quail are upon us and good prospects are in the offing as hunters enter the field. An article detailing those prospects was published in a recent article of the Sentinel.

Area fall harvest update

As of Monday, November 1st, the harvest of soybeans in the area is done. The Farmers Union Elevator in Stockton took in 133,000 bushels and the Woodston Coop took in 190,000 bushels. This is a little over 20% more than last year’s crop.
