First Christian Church of Plainville

Body
We all know how important forgiveness is. The words “forgive” or “forgiveness” are mentioned over 100 times in the Bible. When Jesus was asked by Peter how many times he should forgive a brother, Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” (Matt. 18:22) From that verse, we further explored the topic of forgiveness on Sunday.

Rooks County Courthouse

Body
March 31st, 1921: Bids will be received on the courthouse May 10th, and awards on heating, ventilating, plumbing, and electric wiring will be made at the same time. It is hoped that building materials and labor will be a condition of normalcy by that time so that the work of erecting the long look for the courthouse. The limit of the cost of the entire structure is now by general acceptance put at $200,000.00 of which the county has now on hand considerably more than half which will be materially increased when the last half of the 1920 taxes are in. It will make everybody feel good when the scrapers begin to drag out the dirt from the basement. With the courthouse, the new school house and the sewerage system under full headway together with the dozen or more new homes that are planned, Stockton bids fair to be a pretty lively community next summer and fall.

Butler Family Reunion

Body
The 70th Butler Family Reunion was held Saturday, June 3rd, at the Dutch Mill in Smith Center. We are very thankful for our 70th year of having a reunion. Since 1953, our grandparents, Harvey and Hattie Butler, lived in Formosa and wanted to have a family get-together every year if it was possible. So far it has been great, and way back then, they picked the Dutch Windmill City Park in Smith Center for the meeting place. This year’s attendees included: Richard and Ray Butler of Great Bend; Keith Butler and Barb Evans of Russell; Linda Buster of Galva; Taylor and Jamie Ripple, Haegan, Hallie and Holland of Osborne; Verna Van Donge of Liberal; Veda Miller of Stocklton; Roy and Geraldine Orr, and Randy and Daveyon Orr of Gaylord; Tom and Judy Butler of Enid, Okla.; Jim and Erny Kee and Derry, Erin, Omree, Joree and Eloree Dibble of Stockton; Ardon and Stephanie Zanghi of Satanta; Arrow Dean Zanghi and Debi Schmidt of Coldwater; Abette and Hadlee Bryan and friend Rylee Bucker of Dover, Okla.; Jason and Carrina Hudsenpillar of Hays; and Raylene Scherman and KC Spargo of Phillipsburg. There were a total of 36 people enjoying the day. We sure appreciate all those who attended.—Sent In

Phone: 785-994-6370 (home) or 785-476-5206 (cell) We have puddles! Monday's late-night rain measured .70 in our gauge and on Friday, June 2, we received .40. Though the dark blue in the west and southwest on Saturday afternoon appeared scary, we only received another .20.
