Phone: 785-994-6370 (home) or 785-476-5206 (cell) One afternoon this past week, I was sure it was finally our turn to have a good rain with thunder and raindrops beginning to fall, but once again, that was the total amount we received. Most of my family all had a half to an inch or more in their locations in central Kansas, and my sister at Riley even over four inches.

'THAT'S ALL FOLKS!' I grew up watching all the various Looney Tunes cartoons. Yes, it was a huge waste of time as a kid. And yes, my parents should have instilled in me a work ethic by various means rather than let me waste so much of this life. Kids learn by doing. However, I can't help but recall the famous ending to many of those cartoons—'That's All Folks!' Yes, that ending was simply saying the cartoon was over. But decades later, being now a Bible-believing Christian, it's easy to pull the idea over into the spiritual realm. Some people believe that upon death, 'That's All Folks!' But is it? Jesus told His disciples, 'I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself' (John 14:2-3). Jesus did go away from earth to heaven nearly 2,000 years ago and hasn't yet returned. Will He keep His promise? Paul believed so. He told believers in Thessalonica, 'For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord' (1 Thes. 4:16-17). Paul fully believed there was life after life. He also stated, 'For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain' (Phil. 1:21). Paul knew that heaven would be a huge 'gain' or far better than living with all of the Lord's blessings here on earth. In other words, Paul understood and would have stated about dying, 'That's Not All Folks!' Paul knew that nothing—not even death—'shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord' (Rom. 8:38-39). Mel Blanc, the voice behind many of the Looney Tunes characters, passed away in 1989. Can you guess what phrase is on his tombstone? It might be cute, but thankfully, 'That's Not All Folks!'
