Nova Newsreel

Body
It’s the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s JAWS, which came out in theaters in the summer of 1975! This American thriller is based on the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley, and stars Roy Schneider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dryfuss, and Murray Hamilton. The premise of the story is when a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island. Police chief Martin Brody wants to close the town, but mayor Larry Vaughn overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will kill the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hopper and grizzled ship captain Quint offer to help Brody capture the killer beast and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.
