Body HAPPY TENTH ANNIVERSARY! To Sadie and Chase: Happy Tenth Anniversary! I can still picture you two dancing at your wedding. You're better than the best, I'm lucky just to linger in your light, Cooler then the flip side of my pillow, that's right.

Body * I have to admit I did enjoy wearing my hoodies and sweatshirts last week. We all know I love fall, but the really cold and wet part of the season can hold off for another week or two or three!

Body * For those who read my column and know any of my favorite ‘80s singer Rick Astley’s songs, you will get a kick out of this. I know I did….“Rick Astley for President because he will never give you up, never let you down, never gonna run around or desert you.

Body RED SKELTON’S PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Every Tuesday before the Rooks County Commission meeting, everyone present stands up and recites the “Pledge of Allegiance.” A simple thing really, but it reaffirms my belief that there is hope for our country.

Body FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Wishing all of the students, teachers and staff a wonderful and safe school year! T’was the night before school starts and all through the house Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

Body THIS AND THAT * Yes, I have a homemade emergency COVID kit in my purse and one in my car. I took a quart ziplock bag and filled it with at least two paper masks, two sets of gloves, a handkerchief bandana and a small bottle of hand sanitizer.

Body THIS AND THAT * With the Rooks County Free Fair going to just a 4-H Fair this year due to COVID-19, I wanted to give a nod to the many notable musicians, entertainers, athletes and political figures who were part of this special organization.

Body THIS AND THAT * One afternoon while I was playing superhero with my sweet Trent, he started getting out his Marvel action figures, which include Captain America, Black Panther, Ironman and Spiderman.

Body * Found out my sweet niece did the same thing that I did for the Fourth of July holiday! I didn’t have time to mow my entire lawn before that weekend, so I only mowed the front lawn to make it look presentable. My niece did the same thing! We must be related!
