Body All Rooks County businesses are welcome to attend an Appreciation Reception and Recognition at a come-and-go event on Monday, December 16th. The Social Hour begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Handle-Bar Tavern & Eatery at 105 East Mill Street in Plainville, with the Recognition at 6:30 p.

Body There will be a regular meeting of the USD 271 School Board on Monday, December 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m., in the Superintendent’s Office.

Body Just a reminder that the Stockton Methodist Church of Restoration invites everyone to join them during this Advent season with daily Facebook Devotions, Advent lunches, and their Sunday Advent sermon series, “The Christmas Letters.”

Body The family of Bob and Jean Lindsey request a Card Shower in honor of their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Bob and Jean were married on November 6, 1954.

Body Stockton’s Olde Tyme Christmas will begin this Friday, November 29th, with several stores opening early and offering different specials throughout the day.

Body The third-grade students of Mrs. Laura Foss and Mr. Scott Bennett at Stockton Grade School are featured in individual ads in this week’s issue. Each student has created a poster representing what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Body Please keep this article or the ad in this edition for the Nova Theatre’s Thanksgiving Holiday show time schedule! There will be no Friday evening movie on November 29th, so everyone can enjoy the Olde Tyme Christmas events, parade, and Santa!

Body Lots of fun and merriment is scheduled for “Christmas in Alton” next Saturday, December 7th. The 23rd annual Chocolate Festival, with a baking contest at the Front Porch, will kick off the festivities.
