Bruce R. Smith to be at the Rooks County Historical Society’s Celebration this Sunday

Mr. Bruce R. Smith of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution is expected to attend the Rooks County Historical Society’s April 26th Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary. Smith is Chairman of the SAR High School essay contest and will explain the various academic opportunities for students of all grade levels. Other SAR academic opportunities are available for social studies instructors will also be discussed.

Stockton Kicks Off City-Wide Cleanup Week, April 27–May 1

The City of Stockton is making spring cleaning easier this year. The annual city-wide cleanup — available to all residents within city limits — takes place the week of April 27 through May 1. Trash will be collected on each resident’s regularly scheduled pickup day, with additional city trucks running the same routes to haul away larger items, including furniture, tree branches, appliances (note: Freon must be drained from refrigerators prior to pickup), yard waste, and tires (limit of five per household).
