FLAWED BUT FAITH- FUL. Most people are well aware that David certainly lived a less than perfect life. He not only sinfully lusted after Bathsheba, another man's wife, but he actually used his kingly authority to commit adultery with her. Repeat: David knew she was Uriah's wife, and he still took her and committed heinous sin. However, in his effort to hide his shockingly depraved sin, David also ordered Uriah's murder. I can't help but shake my head in unbelief as I read the account in 2 Samuel 11. God Himself said of David, "I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will." Flawed? Absolutely! Accountable to God for his sin? Most certainly. We all are. Yet God's testimony is that David had a tender heart to do His will. In other words, God knew that David truly was a man of strong faith in Him. Near the end of his life, David wrote Psalm 37. In looking back over his life, David is moved by God to leave behind what is perhaps the most encouraging exhortations in all of Scripture. For example, David exhorted true believers: "Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart" (37:3-4). David had seen his share of trouble. King Saul had tried to kill him multiple times. His own son, Absalom, tried to kill him. A man named Shimei cursed him viciously. Through it all, God was teaching David to trust Him. God's message: "Stop trusting your own strength and wisdom. Trust me, David!" That is the legacy that David left behind for all genuine believers. But how do we accomplish the ability to simply trust God in every situation of life? I believe one key is what David exhorted in v. 3 - "Feed on His faithfulness!"

JAYANA (LEFT) AND JALIA (RIGHT) CREIGHTON were very successful at the Rooks County Free Fair Dog Show held the first week of August. Jayana and Rocky received a Blue ribbon and Reserve Grand Champion in Fitting & Showing, a Grand Champion in Obedience, a Reserve Champion in Off Lead Agility, and the Best of Show. Jalia and Lucy received a High Scoring Off Lead Dog trophy sponsored by K & W Meat Processing, Grand Champion in Showmanship along with a blanket sponsored by Doug and Kori Bigge, and a book bag, sponsored by Heritage Insurance Group, for sub novice.
