Sheriff Gary Knight was at the Rooks County Commission meeting held on Tuesday, September 14th to talk about line items for the 2022 budget dealing with the GIS funds. Appraiser Heather Poore was also in attendance since the sheriff’s department and the appraiser’s offices share the duties of GIS. Knight went over line items in the budget asking for a maintenance agreement for the plotter to be approved in the amount of $175.00, with him also noting that a new plotter will probably need to be purchased within the next year or two and will cost approximately $8,000.00.

The Rooks County Health Department will host outreach flu vaccine clinics at several places around the county. Please check the ad for times and places. Flu shots are $25.00 cash or will be billed to Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance, so bring your cards. Pneumonia shots are $125.00 cash or will be billed.

The Stockton Fire Department was called to give mutual aid for an anhydrous leak at Woodston on Friday, September 10th, but did not have to go since they received a 10/22 before they left Stockton. On Saturday, September 11th, the volunteers spent 30 minutes containing a tractor fire on U Road. The call had been received at approximately 8:00 p.m.

The Stockton Recreation Commission will be hosting an Adult Softball Tournament on Saturday, October 16th in Stockton. The cost is $150.00 per team with registration due by Wednesday, October 13th. There will be a two-game guarantee using SRC Adult League/USSSA rules. The teams made up of any combination of guys and gals must all be 18 years of age or older. There will be great concessions and a Home Run Derby.

The meeting was brought to order on August 16th at 6:30 p.m. by vice president Lynda Falley in the absence of president Karen McCune with refreshments brought by Lynda Falley and Darlenia Dinkel. Roll Call was answered by 23 members with some show and tell. The minutes were approved by those who had read them. Emails will be sent out again to verify who is getting them and then updates will be made to the emails as needed. There was no correspondence. The Treasurer’s Report was given by Diane Maddy, and there were no bills presented. Sew Days report showed that Plainville had 8.1 and Stockton had four. The next Sew Days are in Plainville on September 8th and in Stockton on September 11th. Old Business was the baby blankets again. Options were that Hays would take some of them and someone will check with DCF office to see if they would like some. Under New Business our Opportunity Quilt will be taken to Plainville and displayed in the bank to sell more chances in the drawing. There were t-shirt complaints with decals falling off and the fit not correct. Will check to see which t-shirts we can get to replace. On August 18th, the Pineapple class will be given by Connie Haselhorst at Stitch and Chatter. There were no Committee Reports. The Door Prize was brought by Lynda Falley and won by Judy Russ. The Fat Quarters were won by Judy Russ. Next month’s FQ theme is school. Hostesses for September 20th meeting will be Niki Meistrell, Linda Gilbert, Karen Baldwin and Berdena Whisman. Tyler and Tinley Hahn of Plainville are happy to announce the birth of their twin daughters, Estes Raine and Elise Ridge, born on September 2, 2021 at Hays Medical Center. Estes weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long, while Elise weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 18 3/4 inches long.

It was noted at the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly meeting held on Tuesday, September 14th at Lucky’s Speed Shop, that now is the time to get things lined up for the Stockton Pumpkin Patch and Olde Tyme Christmas events.
