Area fall harvest update

Body As of Monday, November 1st, the harvest of soybeans in the area is done. The Farmers Union Elevator in Stockton took in 133,000 bushels and the Woodston Coop took in 190,000 bushels. This is a little over 20% more than last year’s crop.

Chamber of Commerce meeting next Tuesday

Body The Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 9th at Farmers National Bank. Social time will begin at 5:15 p.m. and the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. Olde Tyme Christmas will be discussed. See you there!

Hobart Homemakers FCE

Body The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met Monday, October 25, 2021, at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stockton. Janie opened with the flag salute. The roll call was, "What is your favorite thing about fall?" It was answered by seven members.

Quiet Halloween in Stockton

Body This year Halloween was a quiet one with lots of trick-or-treaters out and about getting their bags filled with candy around the neighborhoods in Stockton. Other than the usual smashed pumpkins, no tricks materialized throughout the evening hours.

Way to go, SHS Striders!

Body THE SHS STRIDERS competed in the Midwest Showcase held on Saturday, October 30th at TMP in Hays, competing against high school teams from across Kansas. They came away with a I Rating and a Best In Creativity Award for their performance to “Astronaut in the Ocean.
