Stockton Pumpkin Patch a smashing success!

Body
Stockton’s Pumpkin Patch was held this past weekend (October 1st and 2nd) and can only be described as a “smashing success!” Stockton Chamber Director Ravin States Leake, the volunteers and students worked tirelessly to set up the fall affair with the weather cooperating, maybe just a little too much with the temperature, but nonethe- less dished up a beautiful, sunny weekend for the event. The Hobart FCE announced the winners of their Pumpkin Baking Contest, which was held on Saturday.
THE KIDS behind the masks at the Stockton Pumpkin Patch are Jasper, Lakota and Jax Miller, the children of Ashley and Chris Miller.

I am writing this week about how to stay healthy within your environment. What does that mean, anyway? That means keeping the air you breathe, the things you put on your skin, the water you drink and food you eat clean to help us stay healthier. We have several governmental agencies whose task it is to keep our environment safe: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the Federal Department of Health and Human Services to name a few of the major players. These groups try to provide information and guidance to us about avoiding things that can make us sick over time or acutely.

YOUR BEST LIFE NOW? Hmmm. If you believe that, then 'Ya got trouble, right here in River City' as con man Harold Hill sang in the Music Man. There's certainly no shortage of con men selling 'health, wealth, and happiness' which is gained by 'positive thinking.' For example, someone has claimed, 'God wants to increase you financially.” Are you sure? Or how about this one, 'When you think positive, excellent thoughts, you will be propelled toward greatness, inevitably bound for increase, promotion, and God’s supernatural blessings.' Really? Is that what Jesus taught? I thought the Lord said, 'Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven...For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also' (Matt. 6:19-20). And I thought He told the rich young ruler, 'If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me' (Matt. 19:21). And didn't Jesus say, 'You cannot serve God and money' (Matt. 6:24). Wasn't it dirt-poor Jesus who said that He had 'nowhere to lay his head' (Matt. 8:20) and who gave the shirt off His back for sinners? The 'prosperity gospel' is no gospel at all though it will lead you to 'your best life now.' That's because the true truth is that all who are not true Christians ARE living their best life now for their next life will be in hell. It was Jesus who said, 'There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.' But that man died, and from hell, he said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' No, money cannot buy happiness. But saving faith in Jesus Christ makes one 'rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom' (James 2:5). How rich are you?

Theword“passion”can be defined as “a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement.” It is our passion for something that ultimately leads to great accomplishment or success. The fact is, we would accomplish very little without passion.
