In Matthew 9:9 we read, “As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man name Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, ‘Follow Me.’ So, he arose and followed Him.” Jesus sought out Matthew and asked him to follow Him. But as an agent of Rome, Matthew knew that once he abandoned his post as a tax collector, he could never return to it. He knew the cost of his action and willingly paid it.

The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met Monday, October 24, 2022, at the Stockton United Methodist Church at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was opened by Susan G. with the Flag Salute and Janie reading the FCE Mission statement. Roll call was, “Name a Plant you ate today?” which was answered by six members. The minutes and treasurer’s report from last month were read and approved. We discussed our greenery sales, and remindedthegroupthatall orders and money are due by November 3 to Ruth-Ann. The order should be in after Thanksgiving. Pattie told about the Pumpkin Decorating Contest held during the Pumpkin Patch. We had 14 entries with lots of good creativity. Janie reported that our Pumpkin Baking Contest at the Pumpkin Patch had five adult entries and one youth entry. FCE had a display set up at the Pumpkin Patch with our new banner which was then moved to the Sentinel to promote FCE week. Kim and RuthAnn shared pictures from State Convention at Newton and talked about all the interesting programs and events they attended ranging from wheat weaving, tea at a historical house and the flour mill to name a few. Susan and Janie attended to present the creative invitation for state convention to be held in Hays next year. RuthAnn had catered an excellent meal to the NW Area Fall workshop held at Hays earlier this month. Susan G reminded us that enrollment forms are due. For New Business, Janie moved that we donate $50 to Clovia and Smirthwaite Houses at K-State. The motion was seconded and carried. Janie moved that we pass a unanimous ballot for the current slate of officers to continue for next year. The motion was seconded and carried. December 9th was selected as the date for our December meeting with discussion on what charity to support for the holidays. Susan T. presented the program, “More Plants on the Plate,” encouraging us to add more fruits, nuts, legume and whole grains in our diets. Fruits and veggies were served with a variety of humus dips. Corrections

Body
On Page 12A of the October 27th Stockton Sentinel, there is not one, or even two mistakes, but three that we know of! It is Sophia Hanson that is showing off her skills on the rope climb, though her mother, Taylor, could probably climb that rope as well; it is SHS Strider Tierra Yohon, not Tiara as printed; and Dain Carmen’s name was spelled “Dane.”

GOD'S GLORY. Can God use anyone for His glory? Absolutely. And that includes the wicked who reject salvation in Jesus Christ whom God will condemn one day. However, someone might say, 'But God is a God of love, so how can He condemn anyone to hell?' Yes, God is a God of love, but He's also a righteous God. And Scripture is clear. God tells us in Revelation 20:10, 'The devil...was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.' The lake of fire is forever judgment! The lake of fire is also referred to as 'the second death' (v. 14). But notice that after all are judged according to their works, v. 15 says, 'And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.' That's a forever judgment! How unfathomable! Jonathan Edwards was a pastor- theologian in the 1700s during the Great Awakening and known for his sermon, 'Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.' Edwards said, 'Oh, who can express what the state of a soul in such circumstances is! All that we can possibly say about it, gives but a very feeble, faint representation of it; it is inexpressible and inconceivable: For ‘who knows the power of God’s anger?’ How dreadful is the state of those that are daily and hourly in the danger of this great wrath and infinite misery!” Long ago God said in Ezekiel 33:11, ''As I live,' says the Lord GOD, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.'' No, God does not rejoice in judging the wicked. But He does rejoice when a sinner turns from his sin to the Savior. And that's why, in love, God sent His Son. Jesus took our sin upon Himself and freely gives His perfect righteousness to all who trust Him (2
