* The Wises were set to leave for St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx section of New York City, where they would stay for about six weeks following the six-hour cerebellar stimulator surgery for Rex, which would hopefully repair some or most of the damaged brain cells.

Another Works Progress Administration project was started in Rooks County last Thursday, according to Franklin R. Trinkle, area WPA engineer. It consists of graveling, earthwork, culverts, and a 30-foot bridge on a four-and-three-quarter- mile stretch northeast of Palco.

Looking Back

Collecting the most boxtops as part of a moneymaker for Stockton Grade School were Ashlyn Hahn, who collected 607 boxtops; Magnus States, who collected 500 boxtops; and Basil Powers, who collected 712 boxtops. The school received a total of $778.30 for the Accelerated Reading (AR) Fund.
