SALINE COUNTY—On Wednesday, November 19th, it was ruled that the City of Salina violated the First Amendment by ordering The Cozy Inn to stop painting its UFO-themed mural, marking a major legal victory for the century-old burger restaurant and free speech advocates, according to a media release from the Kansas Justice Institute. Steve Howard, owner of the iconic burger joint, filed the lawsuit challenging the City's sign code in early 2024 after Salina officials told him to stop painting the mural.

MITCHELL COUNTY—Investigators determined the cause of a home explosion in Mitchell County on Wednesday, November 12th, was an accidental gas leak inside the home, according to Mitchell County Sheriff Anthony Perez. A furnace issue may have contributed to the accident, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.

WICHITA—Out of thousands of applications, with only 300 chosen, a retired Kansas teacher turned interior decorator, Rena Parcher, was hand selected to help decorate the White House for the holidays. Applications start early every year in January with those selected to go finding out in late October, early November.

SALINE COUNTY—According to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan, a 2000 Saturn Vue, driven by an 18-year-old woman, was doing donuts in the parking lot of Kenwood Hall, 900 Greeley Avenue in Salina on Friday, October 31st. The driver lost control of the SUV.

SALINE COUNTY—On Friday, October 3rd, employees from the Long McArthur Ford Dealership at 3450 South 9th Street in Salina reported that between 10:50 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

DUBLIN—The Pittsburg Steelers confirmed that backup quarterback, Skylar Thompson, who played at Kansas State, was involved in an incident over the September 26th weekend after a report that a player had been robbed The Irish Independent newspaper reported the Thompson was assaulted and robbed either Friday night or early Saturday morning in Dublin. SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a scam that cost a woman thousands of dollars. On Wednesday, September 17, a 60-year old woman reported she was a victim of fraud in connection with a scam on Facebook Dating, according to Salina Police.
