MCPHERSON COUNTY —A dangerous storm with very large hail up to baseball size and damaging winds up 70 mph moved through portions of central and southeastern Kansas Wednesday evening.

CLOUD COUNTY—One person died in a small plane crash just before 7:30p.m. Sunday in Cloud County.

PLAINVILLE—Brant's Market, with locations in Lucas and Plainville, has earned national recognition at the 2025 American Culinary Meat Championships in Kansas City.

HAYS—A Hays man was arraigned on August 4th in Ellis County District Court on charges of alleged aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and interference with a law enforcement officer.

OBERLIN—Audrey Sayles and S. Beauford of “Two Girls and a Mural” painted a mural on the north side of the Plumer-Gotter Funeral Home this summer.

WILSON—In the shadow of the world's largest hand-painted Czech egg stands the Wilson Czech Opera House, a more than 120-year-old building that has been a member of the Wilson community since the town's beginning.

TOPEKA—The group behind the black mass in March at the Kansas statehouse—which drew thousands of counter-protests and ended in multiple arrests—was denied a permit to hold another protest this summer. Michael Stewart, the Satanic Grotto leader, says the denial is religious discrimination.

WICHITA (KSNW)—A sign honoring Nicodemus, the oldest and only remaining historic Black settlement west of the Mississippi River, which was founded in 1877, was damaged in the town of Ellis.

BARTON COUNTY—Just after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12th, police, in coordination with Central Kansas Community Corrections, responded to a narcotics complaint at Azria Health Woodhaven, located off K-96 Highway in Great Bend, according to a media release.
