Carl “Tom” Nelson, age 86, died in Manhattan, Kansas on June 8, 2022.
He was born June 13, 1935, in rural Woodston, Kansas to Carl and Rausa (Hale) Nelson.
Tom graduated from Alton High School in 1953. He stayed in the Alton area for a time, later moving to Clay Center and working as a manager for Orscheln’s for several years. He married Betty Wright on October 14, 1989; she precedes him. Tom was the owner and operator of Tom’s Feed in Clay Center until his retirement in 2020.
Gary Lee Dix of Alton passed away on May 10, 2022 at the age of 76.
He was born in Stockton, Kan. on March 2, 1946 to Ivan and Marie Dix of Alton, Kan. Gary married Joyce Anderson on April 23, 1982. They spent their life together in the Alton community, where Gary grew up and lived all of his life.

Mary Anne Johnson, age 84, of rural Bogue, Kansas, died June 6, 2022, at Dawson Place in Hill City.
She was born January 5, 1938, in Phillipsburg, the only child of Alvena (Sims) and Marion Francis Kinney. Anne attended schools in Richfield, Coolidge, Rexford, and Webster and was a 1955 graduate of Long Island High School. She married Loren Johnson on June 5, 1955, at the Stockton Methodist Church. They celebrated 67 years of marriage this month. The couple made their home on a farm north of Bogue.
Gary Alan Biles, age 75, passed away June 4, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
He was born August 19, 1946, in Great Bend, to Orville and Thelma (Cain) Biles. Gary married Julita (Campbell) Howard Aug. 10, 1994, in Russell.
Adolph “Duff” Gerard Laska, age 61, of Salina, was called home Thursday, June 2nd, 2022.
He was born December 31st, 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska to Adolph J. and Lucille L. Laska. Duff graduated from Stockton High School in 1979, continuing his education at Dodge City Junior College on a track scholarship.
Joyce Elaine (Hulse) Harkness, age 81, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at her home with her husband and daughter by her side.
She was born August 15, 1940, in Plainville, Kansas. She was one of five children born to Ray and Helen (Martin) Hulse. At the age of two, her family moved to Russell, Kansas where she grew up and attended school.
Joyce was united in marriage to Clarence Wayne Harkness on October 14, 1956, in Russell. Wayne was in the military so they moved around to several Air Force bases before returning to Wichita after his retirement.
