Commissioners talk more about software programs for register of deeds office

Body
At the May 21st Tuesday morning meeting, the Rooks County Commissioners met with register of deeds April Brown to discuss in more detail the software program she would like to purchase for her office. Before Brown came to the meeting, the commissioners expressed the idea of buying something for the entire courthouse, as most of the offices use the AS400 system at this time. They also noted that technology updates will only increase in price in the coming years, but over $60,000.00 for one office is a significant expense. They talked about earmarking funds for the 2025 budget while seeing if Brown can use the system in place for now.

Body
Most of the Stockton City Commission meeting was a discussion with Rooks County Undersheriff Chad Sterling about the more than $70,000.00 increase in their proposed 2025 budget contract between the City and Rooks County. Increases in costs centered on leasing vehicles for the department, which went from $10,000.00 to over $30,000.00. The commissioners want more clarification on the rotation and use of the vehicles. They also asked about vehicle maintenance, in-car cameras, body cameras and mics and software, wages, and overtime. There are still some questions to be answered before the approval of the contract with the commissioners to talk with Sheriff Gary Knight in more detail, as he could not attend the meeting due to a prior commitment.
