The Celebrated Sculptor of Palco, Omer Knoll
Art Collection Grand Opening this Sunday, October 6th
Culture and talent bloom throughout Western Kansas. Many donate their skills to enhance the quality of Kansas life. Omer Knoll, a resident of Palco, used his artistic talent to honor others throughout the Kansas communities.
The Rooks County Historical Society and Museum in Stockton has acquired a vast collection of Mr. Knoll’s sculptures. The collection includes famous Kansans, including Dr. Michael DeBakey and philanthropist Dane G. Hansen. Many of Knoll’s family and friends, as well as a salute to his beloved Volga German heritage, are included in his work. There are also paintings of iconic Western Kansas churches and structures.
Knoll completed his dissertation at Fort Hays State University and shared his artistic talents as a faculty member at Allen County Community College. His work is on dis- display in different Kansas locations, including Hays, Logan, and Wilson Lake. Now, for the first time, many of Knoll’s sculptures and paintings are presented in one grand gallery.
The Rooks County Historical Society and Museum, with the support of the Highway 24 Alliance, is proud to announce the opening of the Omer Knoll Art Gallery. The free-will donation event will take place this Sunday, October 6th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Shiloh Vineyards of WaKeeney, Kansas, will be on hand with a wine-tasting event to celebrate the Grand Opening. Selections of their wine can be purchased at the event. Donations to the Rooks County Historical Society and Museum will support efforts to showcase Rooks County and Western Kansas culture. Everyone is welcome to meet the celebrated sculptor, view his art, and taste the fine wines from Shiloh Vineyards.
