Discussion held about city ordinances

Body
During Public Comments at the Stockton City Commission meeting held on Tuesday, August 5th, Clay Post asked what the City’s process is to get property owners to clean up their yards. The City first sends letters to the property owners to start the process, or calls them about their yards when they receive complaints. City manager Kayla Hilbrink stated she has had several conversations with the neighbor located by Post about his property. All agreed the process needs to be revamped since it takes so long due to the waiting period before the City can take the next step in working with the property owners to clean up their yards. Cleanup includes everything from mowing lawns to removing old cars, tires, and other items from the yards.

Memories of the Rooks County Free Fair

Body
(Jean Lindsey, while cleaning out her office of things she said she didn’t think she needed anymore, came across an album called “My Diary,” filled with letters and articles she had written over the years from 1954 to the present day. Jean, who will turn 90 years old later this month, thought our readers might enjoy this snippet of her earliest memories the Rooks County Free Fair.) Our family lived in the country near Webster where we attended school and church, but came to Stockton to visit relatives, take piano lessons, go to the doctor, and enjoy special events.
