After president Chad Sterling called the Stockton Unified School District No. 271 Board of Education meeting to order on Monday, August 11th, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, the Stockton Junior High Stuco members gave a presentation about the National Leadership Conference they attended in June. Next, the board members approved the Consent Agenda before approving Gidget Mosiman and Laura Moffet for the college tuition assistance agreement. They also voted to accept the bid from the Loyd Group LLC to perform the audits for USD No. 271 for the 2025, 2026, and 2027 years as presented.

Special school board meetings held

A special meeting of the USD #271 Board of Education was held on Wednesday, July 16th at 7:30 p.m. The discussion with board members Chad Sterling, Michael Carpenter, BJ Hoeting, Jessy Maddy (via phone), Ginger Riffel, and superintendent Dr. Angela McCollum dealt with a cooperative sports agreement for the 2026-2027 school year. Also present were Kyle Benoit, Ali Keller, and Brandon Kuhn from USD #269, USD #269 athletic director Toni Bristow, Dr. Brian Pekarek, superintendent of USD #269, and Krista Muir and Janet Kuhlmann, co-athletic directors for USD #271.

Delinquent Tax List begins in this week's Stockton Sentinel

Beginning in this week’s Sentinel dated Thursday, August 14, is the printing of the Delinquent Tax List for Rooks County. Required by state law for publication in the final three weeks of August, the annual delinquent tax list contains the names of those Rooks County taxpayers who have not paid their property taxes in 2025.

Raising money for the Rooks County Cancer Council

When Kambree’s dad was diagnosed with cancer when she was five years old, she decided to donate her hair to Locks of Love to help with cancer research. Now, four years later, Kambree is still giving back, this time by raising funds for the Rooks County Cancer Council.
