Wednesday— Waikiki chicken, broccoli, rice, bread, applesauce. Thursday—Soft taco with lettuce, cheese and tomato, Mexicali corn, tortilla, fivecup salad. “$1.00 Retro Summer Movie Weekends” at the Nova Theatre!

The Nova Theatre in Stockton has gone “Old School” and will be featuring “$1.00 Retro Summer Movie Weekends” until the studios release new titles, hopefully by the end of August. So for the next few weeks, come on down to the Nova and enjoy a classic on the big screen for a dollar, in air-conditioned comfort! The movies will be shown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings. And remember the concession stand will be open during the first hour of the movie, so come on down and buy a large tub of that yummy Nova popcorn!

Rooks County Fair Board votes to go to 4-H Fair Only this year

During a special meeting of the Rooks County Fair Board on Tuesday, July 14th, the Fair Board members made the hard decision to move to a 4-H Fair Only and Livestock Sale this year due to COVID-19. This means no commercial side to the fair or any grandstand events. The vote was 15 yes to move to a 4-H Fair Only and 6 no.

Nitrate Advisory rescinded for the City of Stockton

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) rescinded a nitrate advisory for the City of Stockton Wednesday last week just about as quickly as it was announced. The advisory was issued because of field test high nitrate levels in the system.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), has issued its list of public health advisories for Kansas lakes due to bluegreen algae. The latest list was released on Thursday, July 16th.

Governor Kelly Signs Executive Orders Delaying Schools, Implementing Mitigation Procedures

Governor Laura Kelly signed Executive Order #20-59 on Monday and shared the details for Executive Order #20-58. Executive Order #20-58 can only be signed if the Kansas Board of Education votes to approve her order. Executive Order #20-58 delays schools from beginning any student instruction from August through September 8. Executive Order #20-59 outlines mitigation procedures schools must take to ensure the safety and well-being of Kansas students and teachers.
