The Stockton Fire Department was paged early this evening, at about 6:40.

Plainville Fire Department requests a brush truck for an alfalfa field on fire at 20 & Z Road, approximately 2.25 miles east and two miles south of Plainville.

Former Stockton man, Andrew Casad, was recently sentenced to four to six decades in prison for sexually assaulting four girls in Lincoln, Nebraska. Casad, 65, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree sexual assault of a child.

Sentinel entertains educational visit from third graders

Stockton Grade School students from the third-grade classes of Ms. Brooke Werner and Mrs. Martha Fleck walked down to the Stockton Sentinel on a windy, Friday afternoon last week. The students were on an educational outing, hoping to learn more about informational writing from the Sentinel staff.

Former city manager of Stockton retired Friday, March 31

After serving for a total of 43 years as a city manager in the state of Kansas, Richard Nienstedt retired last Friday, March 31st. Nienstedt was city manager in Stockton from March 1983 to December 1989. For the past 16 years, he and his wife, Rita, have called Ottawa home. “Stockton and Ottawa are two of our very favorite places,” said Nienstedt.

Topeka angler sets new Kansas record for crappie

SHAWNEE – Topeka resident, Bobby Parkhurst, was fishing at Pottawatomie State Fishing Lake No. 2 when the catch-of-a-lifetime came into contact with his lure. Little did Parkhurst know that what loomed beneath the surface, ready to strike, would break a Kansas state record set the same month, nearly 60 years prior.
