It’s almost Homecoming Week at Stockton, with the students ready to pump up the spirit throughout the halls and downtown beginning Tuesday, September 26th.

County valuations up over $4 million
Information from the Rooks County valuation chart printed elsewhere in this issue shows that the 2023 Rooks County valuations increased $4,047,185.00 from 2022. The most considerable increase was in real estate, with a total of $2,980,275.00.
Stockton Fire Department called to grass fire Monday afternoon
The Stockton Fire Department was called out Monday afternoon, at 3:20, for a grass fire on 9 & R Road.
This location is approximately four miles south of Webster Reservoir.
Please use extreme caution if you are in the area of this fire.
Commissioners accept city manager’s resignation
At the Stockton City Commission’s regular bi-monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 5th, the commissioners came out of executive session and accepted the resignation of city manager/clerk Courtney Flower, effective Friday, September 29th.
Susie Q’s is a special treat!
Nearly everyone has noticed the new food trailer in town. Susie Q’s in Stockton opened for business in mid-April, and the little food trailer on Highway 183 has been doing brisk business ever since.
New Physical Therapist welcomed to RCH
Curtis Sohm has joined the Rooks County Health Center (RCH) Rehabilitation Department as a Physical Therapist. Curtis earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a lab emphasis from Fort Hays State University and a master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Courtney Flower resigns as Stockton City Manager/Clerk
Stockton City Manager/ Clerk Courtney Flower handed in her resignation at the regular city commission meeting held on Tuesday, September 5th, which was accepted by the commissioners. Flower was hired as the City Clerk in November of 2013 and was hired as the City Manager/Clerk in November of 2019.

The September 28th Sentinel will include our annual Homecoming Feature, with individual pictures of the Tiger athletes (football, volleyball, and cross country), cheer, dance, and coaching staff, sponsored by local merchants, organizations, and individuals.
Bouchey terminated at Tuesday's county commission meeting
At the regular Rooks County Commission meeting held on Tuesday, September 12th, after the three commissioners came out of an executive session, they voted to terminate road and bridge foreman and landfill foreman Rich Bouchey effective immediately.
