The Rooks County Commission met with Julie Yarmer of Freedom Claims Inc. and Hadley Gillum with Blue Cross/ Blue Shield to review the County’s employee insurance policy for the coming year. After reviewing the plans and rates, the commissioners signed the contract with BC/BS for the same plans and benefits offered last year.

So that the public can make an informed decision at the polls on Tuesday, November 7th, the Stockton Sentinel asked the candidates to answer questions about themselves and why they decided to run for the position. This year, three candidates are running for the two open positions for the privilege of serving on the Stockton City Commission.

There are four open positions for the Stockton USD 271 Board of Education. Per our custom, the Stockton Sentinel always presents the candidates in contested races to the public. They answer questions about themselves and why they wanted to serve on the Board. This way, the public can make an informed decision at the polls on Tuesday, November 7th.

Bring your photo ID Next Tuesday, November 7, is Election Day, and all registered voters should exercise their RIGHT to vote! Don’t take the process for granted. Many in the world do not enjoy this privilege.

The Rooks County Commission met with interim road and bridge supervisor Tim Colburn at their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 17th for his weekly update. Colburn reported that the crew is still hauling material on 11 Road and the reclaimer and dozer are making rock for upcoming projects.

After holding several in-person interviews after the regular meeting of the Stockton City Commission held on Tuesday, October 17th, the Board voted to hire Kayla Hilbrink as the new city manager/clerk pending acceptance of the contract.

When the Stockton Sentinel learned that Fielzah Creighton ran in the Chicago Marathon, we contacted her about her experience. We emailed her several questions about how she became interested in running, etc., and once we received her answers, we knew we had to include the entire interview, which will be printed in installments as space allows.
