The Stockton Tigers performed like a well-oiled machine last Saturday when they faced the Logan Trojans in the finals of the Class 1A Regional Basketball Tournament held in Mankato. The Tigers, who were firing on all cylinders, cruised to 74-32 win over the Trojans, advancing them to the Class 1A Sub-State Basketball Tournament to be held in Russell this Thursday-Saturday.

Freshman Justin Knoll and sophomore Rylan Basart represented the Stockton Tigers at the KSHSAA 3-2-1A State Wrestling Tournament held last Friday and Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. The boys had both advanced to State after finishing fourth at Regionals in Norton the previous week.

Ashlyn Hahn and Hunter Howell each brought home first place from the 2020 Mid-Continent Elementary League Wrestling Tournament held last Thursday in Ellis. Hahn, who wrestled in the 80-95 Girls Division, had two falls to capture the win, while Howell, pinned five opponents en route to a first-place finish. The tournament concluded the 2020 wrestling season for the junior high grapplers.

STOCKTON JUNIOR HIGH Seventh-Grade Girl’s Wrestler, Ashlyn Hahn, placed first at the MCEL Wrestling Tournament held last Thursday, February 20th, in Ellis. In her Championship match, Hahn won by a fall over Callie Priest of Ellis, 14-8.

HUDSYN HAGAN, grandson of Corky and Linda Hagan, took 1st at Squires Westling Club Tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, February 23rd. He had a tough bracket but managed to go 3-0.

SHS SENIOR TIGER Gage Conyac goes up for a strong rebound against Trego on Tuesday, February 11th. Stockton won at home 44-40.

JUNIOR WRESTLER DEYTON BEDORE, wrestling at 160 lbs., is nearing a takedown of his opponent, Trenton Wuthnow of Abilene. Bedore won the match with a 6-1 decision.

STOCKTON JUNIOR HIGH WRESTLER, HUNTER HOWELL, a 7th grader, brought home the Championship at the MCEL Wrestling Tournament held Thursday, February 20th, at Ellis. Howell not only won first place, but how he did it was even more impressive. Howell won all five of his matches with pins—the first four nearly 30 seconds into each match, and in the Championship match, pinning his opponent, Hunter Sisson of Phillipsburg in the second period. With the regular season coming to an end last Friday for the Stockton Tigers, their sights are now set on Regionals which began this Tuesday and run through Saturday. Both Tiger basketball teams traveled to Downs-Lakeside this Tuesday to take on the Knights. The winners advance to the semifinals of the 1A Regional Basketball Tournament, hosted by Rock Hills High School in Mankato, Thursday through Saturday.
