She was born on June 19, 1974, to Mike Hollern and Pam Axelson in Plainville, Kansas. Throughout her life, she was a loving mother, wife, nana, daughter, sister, and friend, leaving a profound mark on everyone who knew her.

Lucy L. (Bates) Bischoff, 95, of Stockton, Kansas, passed away on March 14, 2025, at the Solomon Valley Manor, where she had been a resident for the past year. 

Lucy was born on June 26, 1929, the youngest daughter of Walter and Elva (Eaton) Bates, on the family farm northwest of Alton, Kansas, which her grandfather, Robert H. Bates, homesteaded.

Jared Malin, 67, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025.

Jed was born to Joe and Rita (Hogan) Malin on September 23, 1957, in Plainville, Kansas as the third of nine children. If he were to tell you the story, it would have been either the hottest or coldest day in the history of Kansas. Or perhaps the hospital didn’t have enough beds, so he came into the world in the hallway or something like that.

Judith Kay Leiker, 77, Hays, died Sunday, March 16, 2025, at HaysMed after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born September 3, 1947, in Hays, the daughter of Everett J. “Corky” and Rosalind (Staab) Urban. 

She attended Loretto Elementary School, Victoria High School, and Hays High School, and on June 8, 1974, she was united in marriage to Allen F. Leiker in Hays, celebrating 50 years of marriage. Judith was a loving homemaker, and she worked with Allen at Al’s Kerr-McGee Station, which they owned and operated.

Lucy Lee Bischoff, of Stockton, Kansas, passed away on March 14, 2025, at the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton at the age of 95. 

She was born on June 26, 1929, to Walter R. and Elva (Eaton) Bates in Alton, Kansas.

Ruth Ann Roy, 91, of Erie, Colo., formerly of Stockton and WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Erie, Colorado, at the home of her daughter, Joyce. 

She was born on February 6, 1934, to Alfred “Jack” and Mary Rosena (Hunter) Jackson in Phillipsburg, Kansas. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Roy, on April 29, 1953, in Stockton at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church. They were blessed with two daughters, Janice, who died a day after her birth, and Joyce.

Delsia Dee (Damewood) Grover, 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Stockton, surrounded by her children on March 16, 2025.

She was born on July 15, 1942, at the family homestead in Densmore, Kansas, to Ivory and Ida (Griffin) Damewood.

Delsia grew up in the Densmore and Logan areas, graduating from Logan High School in 1960. She was a lifelong member of the Asbury Methodist Church, where she maintained a strong and unwavering faith throughout her life. Delsia was known for her hardworking nature and dedication.

Richard Pywell, of rural Palco, passed away on March 10, 2025, at his home at the age of 85.

He was born on January 24, 1940, to Percy and Effie (Ouderkirk) Pywell in Zurich, Kansas. He was married on June 23, 1962, to Carol June Mayhew in Plainville.

Richard grew up in Rooks County. He graduated from Palco High School in 1958. He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University in 1963.
