City holds short regular session

At the start of the March 18th Stockton City Commission meeting, the commissioners approved the Consent Agenda. Items listed were the Solomon Valley Manor gross payroll for $71,207.66, the Solomon Valley Manor warrants for $63,674.79, the City of Stockton warrants for $268,691.

Executive Sessions take up most of County meeting

The Rooks County Commission started its weekly meeting on Tuesday, March 18th, with a forty-five-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel. After the session, they returned to the open meeting and met with road and bridge supervisor Eric Biggs.

2025 Sunflower State Spelling Bee held

Samuel Riley of Butler County is the 2025 Sunflower State Spelling Bee Champion sponsored by the Kansas Press Association. His winning word was 'columbarium,” which means a structure of vaults lined with recesses for cinerary urns.

Animals, ice, and a turn result in mishaps in county
