A STOLEN RED BIKE. A 12-year-old boy was devastated when his new red bike was stolen at Columbia Auditorium in Louisville, Ky. Being told a police officer was in the basement, he sought help. Joe Martin, the officer, also taught boxing in that basement. The boy was furious and ready to fight the thief if he could find him. But Officer Martin advised, 'Before you fight, learn how to fight.' This simple advice introduced the boy to the sport that would define his life. His name was Cassius Clay, and he became an Olympic gold medalist and threetime heavyweight champion. Better known as Muhammed Ali, he possessed incredible discipline, endurance, and unwavering confidence.
