Last week, in our continued study of the Book of Acts, we discussed the apostles selecting well-respected men to distribute food so they could concentrate on preaching God’s message. One of those men chosen was a believer named Stephen. Acts 6:5 states that he was “a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit.” Spiritual leadership is a serious business and must not be taken lightly by the church or its leaders.

SEASONS OF CHANGE ANDFAITH.AsMarchhas arrived here in Kansas, the weather often comes “in like a lion,” bringing strong winds, cold temperatures, and unpredictable storms. Yet, folklore tells us that March will “go out like a lamb,” with calmer, milder days as spring settles in. Another familiar saying reminds us of nature’s cycle: “March winds and April showers bring May flowers.” Though these sayings reflect seasonal patterns, the Bible reminds us that God alone controls the weather. “For He commands and raises the stormy wind… He calms the storm so that its waves are still” (Psalm 107:25, 29).

The Stockton City Commission voted to purchase one backwash pump in the amount of $16,200.00 for the water department and budget for another one for the coming year at their March 3rd regular meeting.

The young ladies who will be cheering on the SHS Tigers at the sports events during the 20252026 school year have been announced. They are Saj Snyder, Lyric Snyder, Temprance Northup, Kourtnie Bird, Shae Yohon, Serenity Carpenter, Meredith Gasper, and Adrienne McCoy. Congratulations!

The Hobart Homemakers FCE ladies met on February 24, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Stockton Church of the Restoration. We opened our meeting with the Flag Salute, and then Ruth Ann read the NAFCE Creed. Roll was, 'What did you do on your snow days?' We had seven members and one visitor. We went around and introduced ourselves to Stacy. Susan G. took scholarship applications to the high school counselor, which was due April 1, as it was that time again to pick scholarship winners. We voted to donate $50 to Rooks County Free Fair for awards. We had a great Cloverbud meeting on Sunday night, February 23. We had eight kids, and Susan G., Janie, Gail, and Vicki helped the kids sew a potholder, do paper weaving, and make trail mix. It was a fun time for all. Next month, on March 23, Cloverbuds will be Show and Tell.

Our God is one of order. He has an order for the church, not one of strife and disorder but one of sharing, generosity, and fellowship.

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to temporarily close both directions of I-70 near Hays starting Tuesday, March 11, for the removal of the U.S. 183 bypass bridge over I-70 at Exit 157.
