The menus for the week beginning Monday, June 15, are as follows: Monday—Swiss steak with tomatoes, rice, green beans, bread, mixed fruit. Tuesday—Pasta salad with ham, strawberries and bananas, crackers, pudding.

The regular weekly meeting for the Rooks County Commission held on Tuesday, May 26th included a short business session with the remainder of the morning spent reviewing proposed 2021 department budgets.

Worship service was held on Sunday, May 24th, at Cedar Christian Church. Rev. Lyle Miller’s message was on the “Ten Commandments.” Visitors were David and Crystal Miller of Winfield; Rex and Cindy Hill, San Antonio, Texas; and Yolanda Hill, Peiffer, South Dakota.

THE MANHOLE cover to the storm sewer located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 (Stockton’s Man Street) and Elm Street collapsed last Thursday, May 28th, under the weight of the constant traffic on the highway throughout the years. J Corp of Hays was contracted to repair the damage.

Emily Roy, Palco, has been named to the spring 2020 spring semester President’s List at MidAmerican Nazarene University.

Weekend houseguests of Judy Turnbull for the Memorial Weekend were: Karrol Kirk and Betty Bachman, Hutchinson, and Montie Essman from Blue Springs, Mo.

Joelle Conway of Plainville earned a scholarship from the Lewis T. and Mary B. Mills Endowed Education Scholarship Fund at Washburn University. This scholarship is awarded to deserving students studying in Washburn’s education department for the 2020-2021 school year.

Washburn University’s education department awarded scholarships to some of its deserving students. The education department has more than 30 named scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.
