First-ever Alligator Gar caught in Kansas

When a lure drops below the water’s surface, it’s not always known what might rise to meet it. On a warm night late last month, one angler fishing the Neosho River east of Parsons caught something he probably never expected to see—a four and a half-foot, 39.5- pound Alligator Gar. The kicker?
A LARGE Alligator Gar was caught in the Neosho River east of Parsons recently. It measure 4.5 feet in length.

There were three categories in this year’s Pumpkin Contest during the Stockton Pumpkin Patch held on the first weekend of October at the City Park. Winners were Linda and Phil Conyac for Most Unusual; and Doug Bigge winning in both the Largest Circumference and People’s Choice categories.

School board approves roof repair at meeting

During the Stockton USD 271 Board of Education meeting held on Monday, October 11th, the members voted to approve the bid from Dan Knoll Roofing in the amount of $9,319.89 for repairs to the back portion of the District Office roof.

Scarecrow Contest winners announced

There were nine entries in the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Scarecrow Contest this year. Residential winners were Mike and Lavinia Haines placing first; Dale and Deb Boucher placing second, and Henry and Chris Sander placing third.
