The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met Monday, February 28, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Stockton at 7:00 p.m. Susan G. opened the meeting with the flag salute and Patti J. read the motto. Roll call was, "What do you do to relieve stress?" It was answered by seven members.

The regular monthly meeting of the Rooks County Historical Society was held at the museum on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. President Alan Dinkel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Coordinator Sue McFarland read the minutes for the November and January meetings. Sandi Rogers gave the treasurer’s report.

Mike Rogers: “To whoever let their dogs run loose between 6-8 p.m. on Saturday night, you can come and pick up all my dead chickens.” Betty Cadoret (Friday): “I can’t believe it! I received a certificate today for 19 years of service as a Foster Grandparent at the grade school!” Kevin and Jyl Unrein of Chanute were guests Friday to Sunday in the home of Susan Schneider.

STOCKTON HIGH SCHOOL NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS are from left: Addie Struckhoff, Melissa Ard, Madison Moffet, Olivia Dix, Delanee Bedore, Tierra Yohon, Claire Plumer, Cappi Hoeting, Ruthie Voss, Rylan Basart, Max Moffet, Camden Iwanski, Garrett Billinger and Coryn Hahn. Requirements students must meet for induction are: Scholarship—cumulative GPA of 3.7; Character—average positive teacher, coach or sponsor response must be four out of five or better; Leadership—seven points from school activities; and Service—at least 25 hours of community service from two different sources. Sponsors for the group are Scott and Terri Bennett. The induction ceremony was held on February 21, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in Tiger Gymnasium.

The Rooks County Commissioners began their Tuesday morning meeting on February 22nd with appraiser Heather Poore. Poore presented the commissioners with valuation information for them to review.

How is your foundation doing? That was the question asked by Daryl Sherraden as he stepped in to offer this week’s message. A house, or any building, built on a weak foundation will surely experience failure. Likewise, our lives as Christians must be built on a solid foundation if we are to endure and prosper here on earth.
