Come in and check us out!!! The library received some great news!! They received a gift of 100 new children's books, ranging from pre-kindergarten through early readers. These books were a donation from the Brownstone Book Fund, a private foundation in New York City interested in fostering early reading, a love of books, and encouraging parents and children to read together.

The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met Monday, September 25, 2023, at the Stockton Church of the Restoration at 7:00 pm Susan G. opened us with the flag salute. The roll call was 'What food is good brain food?' Eight members answered it. The minutes and treasurer's report were read and approved.

The Book of Job describes suffering that is beyond comprehension for most of us. The opening verse tells us, “In the land of Uz, there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.” Despite being such a good man, in a matter of hours, Job lost nearly everything he had, including family, servants, possessions, and wealth. Why, you might ask, would a man who is blameless and upright have to endure such suffering?

MATH IS FUN. That's been my attitude for as long as I can remember. In junior high, our math teacher challenged us to write out Roman numerals over a weekend, with a prize going to the person who wrote the most. I still have the thesaurus that I won—by far. So, yeah, math is fun. And I love how the Tang math used in our school system develops visualization and reasoning skills when doing math. Genius! Math is all about solving problems. Well, life also involves solving problems. Have you ever been discouraged? Lonely? Disappointed? Feel like a failure? The Apostle Paul wrote the truth, saying, 'We are hard-pressed on every side...(and) perplexed' (2 Cor. 4:8). And King David wrote, 'Many are the afflictions of the righteous' (Psa. 34:19). Have you ever been in those shoes?

The Stockton Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) — the official sponsor of Fire Prevention WeekTM (FPW) for more than 100 years — to promote this year’s FPW campaign, “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire preventionTM.” The campaign works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take when cooking to keep themselves and those around them safe.
