HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY TO TRENT Oh, my blue Heaven, Mr. Trent Avery is turning seven! My, how the time has flown, And look how much you have grown! Swimming, softball, soccer games, Flag football and all kinds of board games. Mix it all in with Mario Kart And racing as Donkey Kong Jr. from the start. It’s first grade for you With so much to learn and do! Hunting with Dad is a lot of fun, With Drake, Grandpa and a BB gun. The theme for the party is football With the family invited, one and all. There will be cake, ice cream and candy, And topping it off with presents is dandy! You are my lucky number seven And a very special gift from Heaven. THIS AND THAT * Actress Angela Lansbury passed away a few weeks ago. I really love watching her in the TV series “Murder She Wrote.” Also, she was a wonderful Mrs. Potts in the movie “Beauty and the Beast.” (I have a china Mrs. Potts bank that I bought at Smith’s many years ago. Roma said she bought it because she thought it was cute.) And I loved her as Miss Price, in the Disney movie “Bedknobs and Broomsticks.” She was an actress with a repartee of Broadway successes and movies through several decades that only a few can aspire to. Here are just some of her film successes: “The Long Hot Summer” (I am not going to lie, I watched it for Paul Newman), “The Court Jester” with Danny Kaye, “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” “Samson and Delilah,” “Fantasia,” “National Velvet,” “The Manchurian Candidate,” “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” “The Grinch,” and “Blue Hawaii.”

PUMPKIN PATCH FUN If you missed the Stockton Pumpkin Patch this year on the first weekend of October, then you missed out on a lot of good old family fun! I am probably the event’s number one cheerleader since you all know how much I LOVE Fall, so I am going to brag it up!

GOBLIN’S GLORY MEMORIES When the moon is full and the witches fly the Stockton FFA members prepare for the annual Goblin’s Glory! Members set up booths and conduct a variety of games with the format not changing since its inception. That means there is always the auction where people can bid for special prizes, and the soup supper to kick off the event!

HOMECOMING MEMORIES Yes, I am still on my trip down Memory Lane and thought I would reminisce about my Homecomings while I was in high school. We were state champs my freshman year with the Tigers winning the MCL Championship, the Regional District Class 2A Playoff in Stockton, and then beating Baldwin 26 to14 to claim the State title.

THE LETTER JACKET I am taking a trip down Memory Lane since I saw the SHS cheerleaders wearing their letter “sweaters” at one of the recent home football games. It brought back bittersweet memories for me that I cherish to this day.

Since I am on the Nova Theatre Board, a lot of people ask why the Nova has to wait a few weeks to run a movie when it is already in other theatres, doesn’t get this movie or that movie, or has to run a movie for two weeks, etc. So I thought I would explain how the studios work.
