The 2021 post-season wrestling assignments have been announced for the “COVID-style” season, with the road to the state tournament being a little unusual this year. Stockton has been assigned to District #1 o the Boys’ 3-2-1A Districts.

The Stockton Lady Tigers won their first game of the season last Thursday, defeating the Plain-ville Lady Cardinals 49-41 in the 11th-place game of the 2021 Mid-Continent League Basketball Tournament held in Plainville.

The Smith Center Lady Redmen and Hoxie Indians are the champions of the 2021 Mid-Continent League Basketball Tournament. Smith Center defeated Norton in the girls’ championship game 64-47, while the Hoxie boys downed Trego 70-54 to win the championship.

Stockton Tiger senior Leighton Colburn won the Buzz Matson Invitational Wrestling Tournament held last Saturday in Oberlin. En route to the championship in the 132-lb.

Last Tuesday Stockton hosted Victoria in a non-conference game with the Tiger Boys holding on for a 43-39 victory, but the Lady Tigers falling 60-30. The first half of the boys’ game was a slow one with neither team finding their stride.

WESTERN KANSAS ELITE CLUB VOLLEYBALL 15-1 TEAM competed in the 16s Division at the FSC Showdown in Andover on January 3rd. They brought home a second-place finish to kick off their club season.

The Stockton Wrestling Club sent four wrestlers to Ellis this past Saturday where Zeke Balthazor, Cole Flower and Judsten Cockrell competed in the Ellis Open and William Bigge was a participant in the Ellis Novice Tournament.

The Stockton Tigers faced the Oakley Plainsmen in the 7 vs. 10 seed match-up of the boys’ 2020 Mid-Continent League Basketball Tournament play-in games last Saturday in Stockton.

Last Friday the Stockton Tigers’ trip to Hill City wasn’t very kind to them as both Tiger teams were defeated by the Hill City Ringnecks in Mid-Continent League basketball action. The Stockton girls fell to the Lady Ringnecks 53-24, while the Tiger boys came out on the short end of a 60-36 score.

Following their exciting 53-48 win on Monday over the Plainville Cardinals, the Stockton Tigers will now take on the Russell Broncos in the ninthplace game this Thursday in Stockton. The game is scheduled to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.
